The day didn't really start until 11am. My dad found my mom's old camera from when she took photography in highschool. The bag as really dusty; about six years of dust accumulated on it. Well, for a few minutes, I sat outside on the porch and dusted it off. While doing that, my dad said something about dust mites and that's when I jumped up and started screaming in circles. The thought of small bugs in dust all over me just gives me the "heebie jeebies". Finally, I finished dusting it off and got new batteries. Oh, my god. The focus on the camera was just too beautiful! Turns out that it didn't work and the batteries didn't work. I was disappointed as hell when I couldn't use it so I started walking around the house and look at objects from the camera's point of view.
After getting ready, my sister, mom and I left for a Chinese New Year dinner. Turns out we weren't the only ones. (Not that I wasn't expecting a whole crowd of Chinese people or anything.) The place was packed! Jesus, I thought I was going to drown in people.
During the dinner, my uncle said a lot of things that were on his mind. It was funny though. The first thing was when we wanted duck, he said to the waitress: "WHERE'S MY DUCK?! DUCK DUCK DUCK!" And she sort of ignored him. He said it again and she answered in chinese while walking away "It's coming soon." "OHHH, so you do speak English." I was laughing so hard that my sides starting hurting. My cousin's girlfriend was sort of surprised because normally that isn't something you do at a restaurant. A half hour later he asks the same lady again and she says "It's coming soon" "That's what you said half an hour ago!"
The second thing that happened was my uncle was playing with my little cousin and this girl comes by lifting a chair over her head. "OH, MY GOD! SHE'S GOING TO HIT YOU WITH A CHAIR! WATCH OUT!" And the girl seemed to be confused and laughed nervously. Apparently she was heading for the bathroom as well. Calling after the girl with the chair: "WAIT WAIT! Why are you bringing that chair in the bathroom?! (announces to the restaurant,) There's a party in the girls bathroom!!!!" A few minutes later she comes back out and he asks her where the chair was. I laughed so much after that. My sides cramped up too. Oh, god. Hilarious.
When I mentioned to my cousin that we were going to buy crepes after dinner, he says "What?! Crepes?" He consults his girlfriend and they say maybe. I sort of nudge them a look saying that they should go and get crepes with us. My cousin took out his phone and called his dad since they were a table away from us and the restaurant was too loud and crowded. When his dad picked up he says "DAD, give the phone to mom! I need to ask her something." and my mom's response was "What's the magic word that you should tell him?" and my cousin says: "Fine, Dad can you give the phone to mom NOW?!" I swear, family gatherings are so funny. Of course he was just joking around.
I guess that's the end for today. I'm off to bake cookies now. No, I'm serious about the cookie part. I need to bake for my cousin's birthday tomorrow and for a certain somebody. Aha. Lot's of love.
